Youth Led Grants Residential

This year a Youth Led Grants Residential was held at the Urdd Conference Centre at Cardiff Bay.

A fun weekend was had by all, and here we have the thoughts of one attendee Alex:

Youth Led Grants Residential 2017
What can I say, a fun, interesting and packed residential by WCVA and delivered by Dynamix. I would say that it was the best educational residential I’ve ever been too, but that would be an understatement.
The first day was great, met some new friends and went with one of the most inspiring people I’ve ever met, she goes out of her way to do anything for youth volunteering in Blaenau Gwent. And, I would never be where I am here without her! Thanks, Sian! (Sian Sweet Youth Volunteering Officer, GAVO Blaenau Gwent)
On the first day, we did numerous activities around team building. I walked around the world (pic 1), conquered it (pic 2) and then fell off! Then we had food, which was okay. After food, we went to bed (that’s what we were told to do anyway ;)).
The second day was great, my favourite by far! We learned about the needs of different people, organisations and young people. I found out how the money was given out to youth provisions to help with projects and I also helped with marketing and promotion of the grant panel. This is a keen interest of mine, as I have marketed and promoted numerous projects before.
I gave a presentation (pic 3) on how I thought a small donation of cash could be invested in order to offer a much bigger return which helped us understand the concept of value for money when considering grant requests
I was told about the #iwill campaign, which I have now been privileged to apply to, after being told about the fantastic and motivational Social Action campaigns by fellow #iwill ambassadors.
I would love to be invited to any similar events in the future.
