Bev Boulton, Youth Volunteering Officer at GAVO Caerphilly Volunteering Centre has been working closely with the British Transport Police, Network Rail and the WCVA in developing new opportunities for young people within the Caerphilly area.

The roles are targeted to young people between the age of 16-19 year old.

The Rail Life Rail Ambassadors project is an educational/volunteering programme, offering training on all aspects of Rail Safety and Operation of the Rail Network.

The programme is supported by Network Rail, Arriva Trains, British Transport Police and GwirVol.

The volunteers will train to become Rail Ambassadors and will share the knowledge of Rail Safety with other young people within the community via youth clubs, community events, schools and colleges.

Each volunteer will have a mentor who are engaged within the Rail Life partnership.

They have already recruited their first 4 young volunteers onto the programme and Bev Boulton will be providing a volunteering presentation and signing the volunteers up to the Millennium Volunteering Programme during week commencing 18th April 16.

The roles are suitable for young people who have spare time during evenings and weekends, interested in working with young people, are able to work on your own initiative and want to gain skills and knowledge.

For more information or to apply contact Beverley.mallet@gavowales.org.uk with your name, age, and why you think you would be a suitable volunteer.
