Volunteering is an opportunity to get involved. This could be with your local community or even overseas! It’s an opportunity to meet new people, make lifelong friend and have fun. It’s about helping others and giving back but that doesn’t mean you won’t get anything in return. As a part of your volunteering you can learn new skills, gain recognition and qualifications. Our Youth Volunteering Advisors offer the Millennium Volunteers Award to young people looking to make a sustained commitment to volunteering. Many volunteering placements offer training and certificates as well as other award programmes such as the Youth Achievement Awards.

Volunteering can really help build your CV. Did you know that in a reed survey in July 2009 of employers 83% viewed volunteering on your CV as positive and 70% believe that volunteering helps you earn a higher salary and gain promotions.
