MV for Organisations
MV runs successfully thanks to a range of organisations that act as ‘Delivery Partners’. This means that they have signed up to the 9 Key Principles of MV and have been recognised as delivering MV.
There are also many hundreds of organisations across Wales who have young volunteers placed with them by their local Volunteer Centre. There is a Volunteer Centre in every county in Wales and a Youth Volunteer Advisor (YVA) based in all of them to advise and support young people with their volunteering.
Young volunteers can bring a whole new energy, enthusiasm and interest to your organisation. It can also be a great opportunity for someone to learn the skills that will help them follow a career in your area of work. Volunteering is a two-way process and you can get a great deal from involving young people in what you do.
You do not have to be a charity either. MV has always been open to statutory authorities and other government-funded organisations. What is important to us is that the individual’s volunteering is recognised, not the status of the organisation that is supporting them. We do have some limits on what can be counted as volunteering and if you are a private company you should contact us first before applying so that we can discuss the kind of opportunities that you have on offer.
MV is a great success and we want to see it continue to be the leading volunteering programme for young people in Wales – therefore, if you do have any questions that are not answered on this website, please feel free to call David Heald, MV Co-ordinator on 029 20 431 728 or e-mail dheald@wcva.org.uk
There are three methods to get involved with MV:–
- Organisations can apply for grants to run the programme here
- Young people can visit their local Volunteer Centre and sign up with a local advisor who can tell you all about what is going on in your area. There is a list of them here
- Organisations can apply to run the programme without going through the grants process. To find out more about this and ‘MV Award Status’ click here
If you have questions about the policies and practice of running the MV programme, you may want to look at our FAQ for organisations document you can download here.
