So what is GwirForce?

GwirForce is a diverse panel of young, spontaneous and fun volunteers aged 16 to 25 committed to promoting and driving forward youth volunteering in Wales.

GwirForce – The History!

GwirVol aims to be youth led as an initiative and in order to achieve this, an event was held in October 2007 inviting young people from across Wales to come a find out more about the initiative. From this event a series of residential weekend events were held to support those young people who were interested in being a part of the initiative. This group of young people decided to call themselves GwirForce.

What do GwirForce do?

GwirForce are now a constituted group, who act as ambassadors for youth volunteering. They attend the GiwrVol steering group meetings and grant panels to help make decisions about the overall strategy of GwirVol. They also have their own aims and objectives and are looking to develop regional groups of young people who can promote volunteering to peers and gauge opinions to feed back to GwirVol.

Without young volunteers GwirVol would have no purpose so GwirForce play a vital role in keeping the partnership and initiative in touch with young people and what they want.

This year GwirForce are helping develop merchandise and promotional materials for the initiative and also for themselves as a group. They will soon be looking at running taster sessions across Wales to recruit more members and in the future they hope to develop ways to help organisations develop fun, safe and challenging volunteering opportunities for young people.
