About

My name is Clare Jones and I am the GAVO Youth Volunteering officer for both Newport and Monmouthshire.

My aim is to promote, encourage and support young people between the ages of 16 - 25, to volunteer in a wide range of opportunities within their local communities and wider.

I am based at the Newport Volunteer Centre on a Wednesday and Thursday although other Volunteer Centre staff are available to advise you in my absence.

The Newport Volunteer Centre Opening Times are:-
9.00am - 5.00pm (Mon - Thurs)
9.00am - 4.30pm (Fri)

In addition, I am looking to work with community groups, voluntary organisations and local businesses who are able to offer quality volunteering opportunities to young people and would welcome partnership working and information sharing to achieve this.
If you are looking for volunteers then please contact me to discuss further.

GAVO is also one of the co-ordinating partners for the Millennium Volunteers Programme. This is specifically designed to give formal recognition to young people aged between 16 - 24 years who are already volunteering or who are thinking about becoming involved. A Certificate of Recognition is awarded upon completion of 50 then 100 hours and once you reach 200 hours you will receive a Certificate of Excellence signed by the First Minister for Wales. The programme also ensures that any reasonable out-of-pocket expenses incurred during your volunteering are reimbursed. Please contact me to discuss further or to 'sign up'.
